About me
Passions are all the creative arts with experience in music, poetry, apparel design, furniture and interior design, small space solutions and residential building/renovation. Currently, all my spare time involves solutions to our global housing/environmental crisis, learning about sustainable materials and alternative energies and 'spaceprojekt' a concept for systemized design of the mass produced, furnished prefab world micro house.
Uncomfortable with mainstream, interested in ideas on the fringe, music as motivation and all the spectacular possibilities on the horizon.

Books
Design Like You Give A Damn...the Deviants Advantage...A New Earth.

So many books, so many authors, so little time ... Steinbeck, Updike, Roth, Kerouac and the fabulously funny Paul St.Pierre come immediately to mind..and Billy Collins is my favorite poet...he is simply brilliant.
For quick and easy inspiration ... Julia Cameron, Eckhart Tolle, Seth Godin.
Movies
Again too many...Platimum Blonde, the thirties original is one of the best ever, and many of my favorites are from that era...
For funny... A Fish called Wanda and Moonstruck...
These days I watch documentaries and Indie films...on The Passionate Eye, CBC, The Fifth Estate, PBS etc.
Music
Everything...if you really want to know just google spaceprojekt and go to my page on myspace.
I'm really amazed at the vituosity of John Mayer, fantastic vocals and performances of Michael Bubble and the out of sight octave range of Mariah Carey.
School attended
I have a business degree I've never used...all of my best knowledge comes from hands on experience and an unquenchable curiosity...I listen to the lessons of life and I've learned about a lot of things by failing at almost everything.

Time to Disappear...

Like a seasonal alarm clock...the static buzz of Cicada in their mating serenade, somewhere out there in the trees beyond my open city window...remind me that the 'dog days of August' are here...and its time to disappear. As we say in Ontario, "I'm goin up north".
To the land of Algonquin on the edge of the Precambrian...where 3 billion years ago, continents collided with such force that mountains melted and mile high glaziers gouged and shaped the rivers, valleys and lakes we now enjoy...
Where… Continue

One For The Road: A Home in a Shopping Cart

camper cart kevin cyr photo The Road opens this week, with Viggo Mortensen pushing a shopping cart through a post-apocalyptic world. Kevin Cyr was thinking about Cormac McCarthy's novel when he designed the Camper Cart. "That cart is almost like a character in the novel," Cyr told the LA Times. "It's essential to the characters' survival." ... Read the full story on TreeHugger

Menini Nicola Makes The Kind of Furniture you'll Use Forever

Photo of the Night Table from the Menini Nicola Montevi Line Photos: Menini-Nicola.com Sustainable design is not just about incorporating green materials, but about making things that will last forever, physically and aesthetically. A great example is the classic Charles and Ray Eames furniture line, which includes items that more than thirty, forty years after their breakthrough are still desirable and cool. We're not sure if Menini Nicola's furniture will still be around in thirty years, but with their classic lines and use of local, sustainable wood, they're certainly up for a goo...
